Australia to put a moratorium in place for use of genetic test results in relation to insurance products

An Inquiry into the Life Insurance Industry in Australia recently tabled recommendations that the industry standard (FSC Standard No 11) that applies to genetic testing and life, disability and trauma insurance be amended to prohibit any life insurers from using the outcomes of predictive genetic tests, at least in the medium term. The Committee felt this should be done as a matter of some urgency and take a form similar to the United Kingdom's Moratorium with a review after 5 years.

Any thoughts??
